Graduate Fellowships
We are committed at NYU to continue to find new sources of financial support for our students in order to assist them in their efforts to devote their time in the program to their writing. Each year the majority of our incoming students are offered full or partial departmental fellowships, consisting of tuition remission and/or stipend support. In addition, some fellowship support is available through our outreach programs and through teaching opportunities at the university. Finally, all of our students are considered for several New York Times Fellowships, the program's most prestigious fellowship award.
The New York Times Foundation Creative Writing Fellowships Each year, several students admitted to the program are named New York Times Company Creative Writing Fellows. Spending two days a week in selected New York City high schools, New York Times Fellows conduct creative writing workshops for students under the guidance of an experienced high school teacher. The New York Times Fellowship provides a stipend of $22,000 and New York University matches the grant with full tuition. No application is needed for this fellowship. All applicants to the Creative Writing Program are considered and recipients are notified along with their acceptance letter.
